Buccan is where contemporary Palm Beach eats. Chef Clay Conley, a five-time James Beard Award nominee for Best Chef: South, opened the room on South County Road in 2011 with partners Sam Slattery and Piper Quinn, and its wood-fired small plates changed the register of the island's dining from continental to current.
Imoto, the Asian-leaning counter next door, followed in 2012 and shares the address and the crowd. Buccan remains the island's hardest table on season weekends, and the one most often named when the town argues about its best kitchen.
