Across the water in the El Cid district, the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens preserve the home, studio and life's work of the sculptor Ann Weaver Norton, widow of the museum founder Ralph Norton. She established the foundation in 1977; she died in 1982; the garden has been the quiet counterweight to the big museum ever since.

Nine monumental sculptures, eight in brick and one in granite, stand among more than 250 rare species of palms and cycads, around a 1925 house hung with over 100 of her works. It is the most atmospheric hour of art in the Palm Beaches, and the least hurried.
