Norton Museum of Art

The Norton is the art museum of record for the Palm Beaches, and it sits across the bridges in West Palm Beach, ten minutes from the island. Founded in 1941 by the industrialist Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife Elizabeth, it holds more than 8,200 works across European, American and Chinese art, photography and contemporary collections.

The building itself is a reason to go: a master plan by Norman Foster's studio, opened in February 2019, added 12,000 square feet of galleries, a 210-seat auditorium, a restaurant and a sculpture garden, and turned the museum decisively toward the street. In season its Friday nights are a fixture.
