La Goulue brought a piece of Upper East Side Paris to South County Road: restaurateur Jean Denoyer's Palm Beach sister of the New York bistro whose dining room, and whose soufflé, date to 1972. Denoyer's own line describes it best: a restaurant of New York or Palm Beach, but from France.
The brasserie classics arrive as written, the terrace fills at lunch, and the room has settled quickly into the island's French quarter alongside its neighbors on the street. In season, the people-watching competes with the plates.
