The Four Arts is Palm Beach's idea of a cultural institution: founded in 1936, a lakeside campus rather than a single building, with the O'Keeffe gallery, a concert hall, two libraries that double as the town's public libraries, and buildings by Addison Mizner and Maurice Fatio.
The gardens are the daily draw: the Four Arts Botanical Gardens with their demonstration plots, and the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden, an open-air museum on the Intracoastal. The season of lectures, films and concerts is one of the island's oldest habits.
